Setting a default environment in Particle Editor

Post by Ryan Deluz »

>>> We're using Particle Editor WD. I would like to set the default to "Heart Coherence" and then set the default music file to "A Simpler Time" on one of the environments.

When using Particle Editor you generally start by opening the launcher, so you do need to choose an environment.

In Particle Editor you can make a change, for example in the music, and then use the File -> Save as... menu to replace the previous file with the new one with your custom music. This would let you set the default music. You can select the Particle Editor music from the Program Files/Particle Editor WD/audio folder.

If you really want Particle Editor to always open to the same environment you can do this as follows:
1) Open the Particle Editor WD folder at Program Files/Particle Editor WD/audio
2) Right click and drag the ParticleEditor.exe file to your desktop, or start menu; a menu will pop up, click Create Shortcut (Create Shortcuts Here in Vista)
3) When opening this link, instead of seeing the Particle Editor environment chooser, Particle Editor will open directly to the default Particle System.
4) Open Particle Editor (if in Vista/7, just for this time as we will be overwriting a file in the Program Files directory open Particle Editor by right-clicking, then pressing "Run as administrator")
5) Open / configure the Particle System that you want to be the new default when opening Particle Editor without the launcher.
6) Go to File->Save As... and choose the Default.par system in Program Files/Particle Editor WD/presets/

In the future just double click the shortcut you created in these steps to open your new default environment (don't need to run as administrator each time).

Best,

Ryan
