Particle editor upgrade
Particle editor upgrade
For fun I am trying to install PE version 2 over Particle Explorer 1.03. I have Explorer running in compatibility mode on the C drive yet I still get a Runtime Error saying I need to use the default directory, the upgrade is in the Explorer directory. Is there something wrong with my upgrade?

Hi Robert,
Particle Explorer 1 is almost 10 years old, and Particle Editor 2 isn't much newer. The current version of Particle Editor is 3. For $25 you can upgrade to 3.0 here, and then everything should work fine.

Regarding that message, I would assume its looking for the Particle Explorer 1.x files in the Program Files folder in C. It doesn't really matter if you are running in compatibility mode, but rather where the files are. Try installing Particle Editor to C:\Program Files\[whatever the default Particle Explorer folder name is]. If you have a Program Files (x86) folder, and Particle Explorer is there, perhaps copy the Particle Explorer folder to your Program Files folder, as it may be looking in the absolute path name, as this was made before there was ever a Program Files (x86) folder.
