There is mounting evidence of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) as both an indicator of health, vitality and function and capable of being trained to increase both mental and physical performance levels.

Fitness levels were used as a baseline as cognitive performance and HRV were measured. Individuals with higher fitness levels will typically have higher HRV levels associated with them.
This study proves a correlation between the fitness levels, HRV levels and cognitive performance.
Therefore, a further hypothesis is that training fitness OR training HRV will improve cognitive performance.
